Men, created by God, are different in appearance, height, and color.
Good-looking people often show off their beauty, while unpleasant-looking people have an inferiority complex about their looks.
Many people admire good-looking people but treat the unpleasant-looking with disdain. Consequently, in relations with people, we make distinctions between one person and another and can’t get along with them normally. I treated people in the same way before. But since I believed in God, my opinion has changed.
I am a manicurist and often contact with customers who have different skin colors. My job is to paint colorful prints on their nails. Because of this job, I not only enjoyed a tidy income but also a colorful life. I knew that all these were the Lord’s grace.
I was more grateful that I accepted the last days’ work of Almighty God, the returnedin January, 2017. I liked to have meetings with brothers and sisters. Especially, when hearing the experiences about how they depended on and looked up to God in difficulties they encountered and how God led them to go through difficulties, I felt I gained so much. Once in a meeting, a sister fellowshiped, “God arranges different people, events and things in our daily life to have us learn lessons. We will gradually appreciate that in our experiences.” I couldn’t understand the sister’s words at that time, and it was not until God arranged environments for me time and again that I came to know that God was right beside me and arranged people, events, and things to help me know my corruption and give me the truth, so that I could no longer conduct myself relying on corrupt disposition.
One day at the beginning of March, when I was doing my job as usual, there came a customer who was dark, thin and tall. From the moment I saw her, I disliked her from the heart, for there was no part of her that attracted me. I grumbled: Her appearance is really unprepossessing. During the manicure, I just gave her one glance; all I thought was to finish doing her nails as soon as possible.
One day after half month, the salon wasn’t busy. When a customer came in, I looked up to see that it was just the one who I served last time. I thought: Gosh, why does she come again? As it was my turn to serve her, I had no choice but to give her a manicure. That time, I didn’t even take a glance at her and only wanted to finish this unpleasant task quickly.
Soon it came to the Eater Eve. That afternoon, we were all too busy to eat lunch. When I was doing the cleaning after finishing a manicure, I saw a customer coming and found it was her again. I bowed my head and tried to ignore her. However, it was my turn again to serve her. I braced myself to give her a manicure. I didn’t understand: Since I really don’t like this woman, why does God make me serve her time and again?
Next day, I told a sister my experience in the meeting. Then she played a hymn for me.
“1. If you believe in the sovereignty of God, you should believe anything that happens every day, whether good or bad, is not accidental. It’s not that someone is making things difficult for you or intentionally aiming at you, but it’s arranged by God. It’s God who steers all this. To what end, to what end does God do this? It’s not to lay you bare, or expose you. It’s not to lay you bare, or expose you. To expose you is not His final aim. To perfect and save you, to perfect and save you—this is His goal. How does He perfect and save you? He first lets you know that you have corrupt disposition, and lets you know your nature and substance and your inadequacies and deficiencies. Only when you know them and understand them in your heart can you get rid of them. This is to give you an opportunity. You should learn and know how to grasp it. Don’t be at loggerheads or wrestle with them.
2. If you always wrestle with the people, occurrences, and things around you arranged by God, trying to get away from them, feeling dissatisfied, and harboring complaints and misunderstandings, it will be very difficult for you to enter into, very difficult for you to enter into the truth. If you obey, seek, pray more, turn to your spirit and come before God, then the state within you will be unknowingly changed. During this period, the reality of the truth will be incorporated into you. As such, you will make progress and the state of your life will begin to change. When you have changed and had this reality of the truth, you will have had a stature. Having a stature means having life, having a stature means having life.”
After hearing the hymn, I awakened a bit and knew that all these are under the sovereignty of God and that I couldn’t complain against God. Then, through the sister’s fellowship, I came to know that it was God’s good will to arrange this customer for me. He wanted me to know my corrupt disposition and then seek a transformation. Nowadays, God’s work has progressed forward. He no longer gives us abundant grace like He did at the Age of Grace, but exposes the corruption within us through His chastisement and judgment and leads us to change ourselves practically by His words, and finally allows us to be purified and saved. Then I recalled: When I didn’t , I was controlled by my corrupt disposition and judged people by their appearances, disdaining those who dressed simply and ignoring those whose appearances didn’t meet my taste, and preferring to contact with those who had imposing and attractive appearances. How arrogant and unreasonable I am! Without the environments arranged by God, I couldn’t know my corrupt disposition and would never treat people fairly. Thank God for helping me understand His will. After that, I didn’t feel depressed and my state changed.
Later, I read these words of God: “there was a unique and inherent necessity and value to the existence of each creature. Regardless of the differences in their shape and structure, they had but to be made by the Creator to exist under the authority of the Creator. Sometimes people will see an insect, one which is very ugly, and they will say, ‘That insect is so horrible, there’s no way such an ugly thing could have been made by God—there’s no way He would create something so ugly.’ What a foolish view! What they should say is, ‘Though this insect is so ugly, it was made by God, and so it must have its own unique purpose.’ In the thoughts of God, He intended to give each and every appearance, and all sorts of functions and uses, to the various living things He created, and so none of the things God made were cut from the same mold. From their exterior to their internal composition, from their living habits to the location that they occupy—each is different. … Can you say which is the best looking, and which is the ugliest? Can you say which is the most useful, and the existence of which is the least necessary? Some people like the way elephants look, but no one uses elephants to plant fields; some people like the way lions and tigers look, for their appearance is the most impressive amongst all things, but can you keep them as pets? In short, when it comes to all things, man should defer to the authority of the Creator, which is to say, defer to the order appointed by the Creator to all things; this is the wisest attitude. Only an attitude of searching for, and obedience to, the original intentions of the Creator is the true acceptance and certainty of the authority of the Creator. It is good with God, so what reason does man have to find fault?” (“God Himself, the Unique I”).
Though all sorts of living creatures have different appearances, they are all created by God and have their own value and significance. For example, butterflies, though small, can spread pollen; bees are also small, yet can yield honey; lions and tigers, though having the most impressive appearances, can’t be kept as pets but can only live in forests and mountains, for their functions are to guard mountains and forests. Animals all have their own functions and instincts, manifesting God’s authority and wisdom. Similarly, each of us also plays our own roles in the world. Our calibers, strengths, and functions as well as appearances are all arranged and ordained by God and are good with Him. Since God sees that my customer’s appearance is good, what qualifications do I have to dislike her? I really don’t have any obedience to God. From God’s words, I came to know how to treat people fairly, how to respect others, and how to take my proper place. I resolved in my heart: I won’t judge people by their appearances anymore, and instead, I should treat them in accordance with. Because only when I live in this way, can I get along with others.
About twenty days later, this customer came to our salon again. As I was doing other customer’s nails at that time, my boss served her. When I was computing the bill for my customer, she also came to pay the bill, and then my boss asked me to give the change to her. When I came to her, I no longer felt she was unpleasant-looking and actively greeted her, “How are you?” She also responded politely.
Through my experiences, I appreciated that the work of Almighty God truly can change people. God practically arranged environments to allow me to experience them and His words pointed out for me the way of practice. No matter whether the environment He arranges for me is in line with my notion, God’s intention is to save me and help me break away from Satan’s corrupt disposition and live out the likeness of a real man. Thank Almighty God for saving me!
