Relying on God, I Got More Than a Job

By Jiejing, Japan In April, 2015, I came to Japan, a beautiful country which I had been longing for for a long time. Seeing the good environment and citizenship here, I was eager to find a job, so that I could reside here. Later, a senior told me that it was difficult for foreigners to find jobs in Japan, but if they obtained the Real Estate Certificate, it would become much easier. So, after graduating from language school, I chose economics as my major without hesitation, for economic students you need systematic occupational training to obtain certificates. After a period of hard work, I finally passed the examination for the Real Estate Notary. In order to make my resume impressive and improve my chances of employment, besides the Real Estate Certificate, I also obtained many other certificates. I thought, “Since I have so many certificates, not only the realty companies but also other companies would want me.” Thinking of this, I felt happy in my heart. Later, full of confidence, I began to send my resume to some companies to apply for a job. Unexpectedly, all I got was rejections, which made me confused: Aren’t the realty companies hungry for people who have the Real Estate Certificate? I not only meet their requirement, but also have many other certificates and can speak Chinese, which is useful for overseas business; why can’t I even get an interview? To obtain these certificates, I’ve put in a lot of effort. But in spite of this, I still couldn’t find a job. Do I have another chance? At these thoughts, I felt so depressed and had less confidence in finding a job. Soon, the hiring season had passed. Many companies no longer hired workers, let alone foreign ones. Then I sought help from my teacher in private, but still failed to find a job. Seeing others in my class all found jobs, except another foreign student and me, I felt more anxious, worrying whether I could find a job and stay in Japan. For the next half a month, I constantly sent out my resume, but still didn’t find a job, during which I lived in worries and pain. I thought, “If I can’t find a job in the end, what should I do?” Realizing my condition was not right, I remembered God. Then I told my condition to the sister who read a passage of God’s words to me, “Some people choose a good major in college and end up finding a satisfactory job after graduation, making a triumphant first stride in the journey of their lives. Some people learn and master many different skills and yet never find a job that suits them or find their position, much less have a career; at the outset of their life journey they find themselves thwarted at every turn, beset by troubles, their prospects dismal and their lives uncertain. … Regardless of differences in ability, IQ, and willpower, people are all equal before fate, which makes no distinction between the great and the small, the high and the low, the exalted and the mean. What occupation one pursues, what one does for a living, and how much wealth one amasses in life are not decided by one’s parents, one’s talents, one’s efforts or one’s ambitions, but are predetermined by the Creator.” The sister fellowshiped, “Our destiny is dictated and arranged by God. What jobs we will do is also already predetermined by God and isn’t based on our own efforts or other conditions. Besides, when we can find a job is also in God’s hands. What we need to do is believe that God’s arrangements always suit us most and experience them calmly.” After hearing the sister, I understood that what job I would do was predetermined by God. In the past, I didn’t know the sovereignty of God, so I wanted to rely on my own ability to obtain a good job, placing my hope on various certificates. When I couldn’t achieve my ideal, I was negative and complaining. My suffering was actually the result of my disobedience to God’s sovereignty. After understanding this, I felt much more relieved. Later, I read another passage of God’s words, “People spend most of their time living in an unconscious state. They don’t know whether it’s right to rely on God or on themselves. Then most of the time they choose to rely on themselves, to rely on the beneficial conditions and environments around them, as well as the people, events and things around them that are beneficial to them. This is what people are best at. What people are worst at is relying on God and looking to God, because they feel that looking to God is too much bother. They can’t see Him or feel Him, and they feel it is vague and not realistic to do so. So people perform the worst with this lesson, and their entry into it is the shallowest. If you don’t learn how to look to God and rely on God, you will never see the work God does on you, or the guidance and enlightenment He gives to you. If you can’t see these things, then the matter of whether or not God exists, whether or not He guides everything in the life of mankind will, in the depths of your heart, end with a question mark and not with a period or exclamation mark. ‘Does God guide everything in the life of mankind?’ ‘Does God observe the depths of man’s heart?’ This will be troublesome. For what reason do you make this a question and add a question mark? If you do not truly rely on God or look to Him, you will not be able to generate a true belief in God. If you can’t generate a true belief in God, then the question marks will forever be there with everything God does, and there will be no periods.” After reading God’s words, I thought…

Various Plants’ Missions Gifted by the Creator

It is sunny and there is no cloud in the sky. The mountains in the wild are covered with thick green vegetation. Great trees soar above and stand firm. Under the trees, various flowers and grass cuddle up together; they stretch their bodies and breathe the fresh air in the mountains. Occasionally, as a breeze blows over, they begin to gently dance as if whispering to each other or ready to tell us something. … Their breaths of fragrance take to the breeze and come into my clinic lying at the foot of a mountain. I am a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine. I often go into the mountains nearby to dig Chinese medicinal herbs. Every time when I walk into the mountains, I can breathe the fresh air and smell the attractive odor given forth by all kinds of rare flowers and grass, and enjoy the green before my eyes. Various trees have different forms: Some are very pretty and charming; some are tall and erect; some are laden with fruit. … In the eyes of people who don’t know them, they are just different kinds of plants, or they just can be used as firewood for cooking rice and stir-frying, or as fuel for heating. But in the eyes of us doctors of traditional Chinese medicine, they are various rare and precious treasures. They have their own effects and some even have multiple uses. Some plants have the effects of subduing inflammation. For example, goldthread, the medicinal part of it is its root. It has the effects of clearing away heat, dampness, and fire and detoxicating toxins, and can be used to heal many diseases caused by the dampness and heat of intestines and stomach, such as abdominal pain, dysentery, or vomit. And it can also heal the constant high fever caused by all warm diseases, the insomnia caused by heart fire, and the diabetes caused by stomach heat. Some plants can promote blood circulation for removing blood stasis. For example, the safflower we are familiar with, the medicinal part of it is its flower. It can unblock the blood vessel and is widely used to heal the diseases caused by stagnant blockade of blood and blood stasis, and it is especially important for healing the coronary disease and angina pectoris. For females, it is also an essential medicinal material; whether to heal dysmenorrhea, to flush out extravasated blood after child-birth, or to heal physical injuries, it is essential. Often drinking the water infused by safflower flowers can prevent and heal cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction, and can also lower blood pressure. Some plants can dispel wind and dampness. For example, cortex acanthopanacis, the medicinal part of it is its velamen. It has the effects of dispelling wind and dampness and strengthening muscles and bones; it can heal wind-dampness arthralgia and soreness and weakness of waist and knees, and can also induce diuresis for removing edema. Some plants can build strength, keep longer longevity, and improve body’s natural defenses. This kind of plant is mostly tonifying medicinal material, including ginseng, astragalus mongholicus, Chinese angelica, Chinese wolfberry, and so on. They are the medicinal materials we are familiar with and have a good effect on recovery from weakened bodies, illnesses, or operations. Many people whose bodies are weakened have taken them. Some plants have good effects on dispelling pathogenic wind and cold and preventing and healing cold and fever. Such as Ephedra sinica Stapf, the medicinal part of it is its entire body. It has several uses: dispelling cold to induce sweating, inducing diuresis to remove edema, and relieving cough and asthma; its stem can induce sweating while its root can arrest sweating. This is too wonderful! Every time when I used these plants to heal people of their diseases, many thoughts welled up in my mind: Where are these plants from? And who bestows upon them such lives? Afterward, I believed in God, and from the book of God’s word I saw these words: “‘And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth: and it was so.’ While God was speaking, all these things came into being following the thoughts of God, and in an instant, an assortment of delicate little life forms were unsteadily poking their heads up through the soil, and before they had even shaken the bits of dirt from their bodies they were eagerly waving to each other in greeting, nodding and smiling to the world. They thanked the Creator for the life that He bestowed upon them, and announced to the world that they were a part of all things, and that they would each devote their lives to showing forth the authority of the Creator.” It turns out that these flowers, grass, and trees are from the Creator’s creation. They are the same as us humans. It is God who bestows upon them tenacious life force, and it is God who supplies and nourishes their lives. They are living for showing forth the Creator’s authority and power. In addition, besides the enjoyment they bring to us, they also have their own wonderful uses: They can resolve our different kinds of rare illnesses, and the medicinal parts of them are also different. I couldn’t help being amazed at the Creator’s creation. I thought: What’s the relationship between man’s body and these plants? Why can they be used to heal people’s diseases? How did the ancients find the uses of these flowers and grass and trees? Then, I saw God’s word says: “Among all things, whether it is animals, plants, or all kinds of grass, God also created some plants that are necessary to resolve harm or illness to the human body. What do you do, for instance, if you get burned? Can you wash it with water? Can you just find a piece of cloth somewhere and wrap it up? It…
